New Delhi, Aug 13: After the Indian team's best performance at the Tokyo Olympics, discussions are now underway about the upcoming Tokyo Paralympics. The Paralympics will begin on September 28 and end on September 5. India's 58-strong team will compete in a total of eight sports events. On Thursday, ahead of the Indian team's trip to Tokyo, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur bid farewell to all the athletes.
"Our Para-Athlete's confidence has inspired 1.3 billion Indians," Sports Minister Shri Thakur said at a function held on Wednesday. The biggest challenge ahead is their courage. This time the number of our teams is three times higher than in the previous edition. I am confident that the team will perform better this time than before.
At Para-Olympics like the Tokyo Olympics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will continue to cheer on athletes. ''The Indian team has a number of medalists, including Devendra Jhajharia, javelin thrower Sandeep Chowdhury and Odisha's star batsman Pramod Bhagat.
